Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 2026

Welcome to PDF Utility. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and PDF Utility governing your use of the website and tools at pdfutility.org (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction if higher, to use the Service on your own behalf. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Description of the Service

PDF Utility provides free, browser-based tools for working with PDF files, including JPG to PDF, PDF to Word, PDF to PowerPoint, Merge PDF, Add Page Numbers, Split PDF, Compress PDF, Edit PDF, Crop PDF, Unlock PDF, Protect PDF, and Find & Replace PDF. Some tools process files entirely within your browser; others are processed on our servers, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may add, change, or remove tools and features at any time.

3. Accounts

You may use many tools without an account. Creating a free account may unlock higher file limits. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account, and for providing accurate information when registering. If you sign up using Google Sign-In, these Terms apply equally to that account.

4. License to Use the Service

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for your own personal or internal business purposes. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, resell, sublicense, or create derivative works from the Service or its underlying software, nor use any part of the Service to build a competing product.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for any account or activity that violates these Terms, with or without notice.

6. Your Files

You retain full ownership of, and all rights in, any file you upload ("User Content"). We do not claim any ownership rights in your User Content. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the necessary rights to upload and process each file, and you agree to indemnify us against claims arising from User Content you submit. Uploaded and processed files are handled as described in our Privacy Policy, including automatic deletion after processing -- we strongly recommend keeping your own backup copy of any file before and after processing it.

7. Free Usage Limits

Guest (not logged in) users are limited in the number and size of files they can process at a time. Creating a free account increases these limits. We may change these limits, and which tools require an account, at any time.

8. Intellectual Property

The PDF Utility name, logo, branding, website design, and underlying software are the property of PDF Utility and its operators, protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of that intellectual property to you, except the limited license in Section 4.

9. Service Provided "As Is"

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that file conversions will always be perfectly accurate -- complex, unusual, or corrupted source files can convert imperfectly.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDF Utility and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, files, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount (if any) you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

11. Third-Party Links

The Service may link to third-party websites or services (such as Google Sign-In) that are not owned or controlled by us. We are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party site.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service, or delete your account, at any time by contacting us through our Support page. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any violation of these Terms or for any other reason, with reasonable notice where practicable.

13. Events Beyond Our Control

We will not be liable for any failure or delay in the Service caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including outages at our hosting or infrastructure providers, internet disruptions, or force majeure events.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or applicable law. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction in which PDF Utility operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your own country require otherwise.
